Faces of Belize | Personal Work

I havnt put any personal work on the blog in some time and I need to do it more often. Its so hard amidst the hustle of a photography business to slow down and revisit the craft I fell in love with to begin with.

I got the chance to do just that recently on a trip to Belize, a country Ive visited numerous times over the years leading groups of missionaries into different service projects and outreaches. What has evolved into a yearly visit has become a time of hard work, intense activity and escape. Escape from the day to day busy life that captures all us Americans and doesnt let go. Though the heat and hard work never really let up, I actually find this to be more relaxing and restful than a traditional vacation. Im one of those people who gets more rejuvenation from an adventure or intense work project than a day by the pool. Just the way it is I guess.

So I brought my camera along with me this time around and really enjoyed it. I love meeting people and seeing their environments and being able to capture that in a way. Belize City is so diverse and the people truly reflect that. Its an English speaking country but the people are from everywhere but. Chinese and Guatemalan make up most of the population, a surprising fact when there are actually more Belizian’s residing in America than there are in Belize. A fact that become more and more real the more people I met and photos I took.

Here are a few images of some of the people I met and had the honor of photographing.
